VI NASP National a major success…

Try to imagine. You are shooting five arrows and you have 6 ends to shoot for $3000. You are not a professional archer, just a student in school. May be the 4th grade of even 12th grade. You are standing on the line with 30+ other students and parents, friends and other peers are in the bleachers all quiet with anticipation. This is the situation that took place on the 15th of April, 2015 at the Multi-Purpose Sports Complex and the anticipation can only build in the awards ceremony.

Five schools competed for many awards, distinctions and CASH Scholarships. 61 students registered for the first Annual VI NASP Nationals from Francis Lettsome, Williard Wheatley, Elmore Stoutt HS (YEP), Bregado Flax and Cedar School. Students from the Elmore Stoutt High School, once realizing their school was approved as a NASP School, took the initiative to build a team organize their practices while partnering with YEP and took the Top team award with each member receiving cash scholarships of $350.

For over ten years NASP® has been building an incredible school program that grants students the opportunity to assist with paying the post high school graduation education expenses. The scholarship winners are determined from the top five boys and top five girls. These ten archers were chosen from the 51 participants for our first 2017 VI NASP® Nationals.

Each boy and girl in 1st place was awarded $3,000 in cash scholarship, the 2nd place pair each received $2,000, 3rd place earned $1,000, 4th place $900, and the 5th place boy and girl were awarded $650. This amounted to a total of $15,100 in cash scholarships awarded to ten archers. The top team also received $350 each for a total of $4900. A grand total of $20,000 was awarded to our winners.

These scholarships are not contingent on any specific,
pre-selected institutions. The student chooses the college and NASP® sends the scholarship check.Try to imagine. You are shooting five arrows and you have 6 ends to shoot for $3000. Our Scholarships were sponsored by NASP® US, Kobre and Kim (BVI) and Caribbean Security. From our Nationals we select candidates for our All Stars, Jr National Development Team and our National Team.

We are very proud of all these youngsters. The week before the tournament most schools were on Easter Break and it is with pride we were able to visit most of these teams at their practice location and give some pointers which were executed in the tournament.

Please see below awards for all our winners.
